1. What is the story behind Flat Glenn?
The Flat Glenn Project is based on Flat Stanley, a children?s book in which a boy named Stanley is accidently flattened but goes about his business as if he were not. He finds that there are many advantages to being flat. For example, he is able to travel to California by being mailed there in an envelope. Many schools do a Flat Stanley Project as a way for elementary students to learn about other parts of the country. The kids make a Flat Stanley out of paper and mail him to distant family or friends. The recipients of Stanley then play tour guide for him, taking him to local points of interest. They photograph themselves with Flat Stanley, fill out a short questionnaire about their home area and send it back, along with Stanley, to the student, who shares what he or she learned with classmates. When I heard about this, I thought it would be a fun project to do with Henry. Then one day I was browsing the Glenn Beck Insider Forum, and Karen (ownedbyacat) had posted a thread about Flat Stanley. I got an idea. Why not combine two of my favorite things, homeschooling and the Glenn Beck Forum? I mentioned it on the Forum, and Insiders showed a lot of enthusiasm for the idea. So I knew there would be plenty of destinations for Flat Glenn. I knew only Dave McCoy would be able to make Flat Glenn look the way I had imagined him. He did, and a project was born. 2. How do I get to host Flat Glenn? Just send Mae Lynn a private message on either the Insider Forum or the Flat Glenn Forum. Give me your name and address, and you will be on the list. 3. How long can I keep him? You may keep Flat Glenn long enough to give him a proper tour and take some good pictures. As long as you don?t keep him too long, I don?t think we need to set firm rules about it. Be sure to treat him well, and don?t get him wet. If you simply can?t bear to part with him, I?m sure Dave would be willing to make you your very own Flat Glenn (for a fee, of course). 4. Where has he been? Where is he going? This information will be available on the front page of FlatGlenn.com. |
