Glenn arrived safely in Council Bluffs Friday at my mom's. I went over and picked him up. He is so easy. LOL
I had forgotten the passport and just laughed and laughed.
My Mom at first thought we were all a bunch of freaks and when she started looking at the passport she has suddenly come up with places she wants to take Glenn.
My daughter graduated from college today and she wasn't big on Flat Glenn coming and since the day is about her.....I didn't take him along.
He stayed home with the cats and watched tv and ate all my chocolate.
Tomorrow we are going out and about.
This is going to be fun. My mom is really excited about it LOL
Thanks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

If you would like to see just a few of the Alaska pictures, without waiting for the whole Forum page to load, I uploaded our FG album onto my website and adjusted the default view to "All Thumbs" for those with slower connections, but you can change it on the top right dropdown menu. I also added a picture of the Passport pages we made. Click on the Passport to go there!

Flat Glenn is now in Vancouver (not B.C.), Washington (not D.C.). We've had a week of rain and clouds and my wife has been at Girl's Camp with the camera. We're all set to start taking photos as soon as the gray skies go away. _________________

I just got back from the post office, mailing FG to Mae Lynn so she can take him to the NIC II in NYC. He's then coming back to Oregon to visit OneSickFreak and PipeRain. _________________

Here's what Flat Glenn did with us in Redding!
This is the Katuras Aggregate Plant in Redding, CA on the Sacramento River that was used to harvest and process gravel for the building of the Shasta Dam. This particular spot on the river was chosen because the river curved here, known as Turtle Bay, leaving rocks and aggregate (materials used for construction, like sand, gravel, crushed stones, ect.) on the river bed. The plant is known as The Monolith and was the only plant used to build the Shasta Dam, which created Shasta Lake, the second largest lake in the U.S. Without The Monolith and Turtle Bay, Shasta Dam may not have been built because of the cost of transporting the materials from further away would have been too high. The Shasta Dam keeps the Sacramento River from flooding various cities on its banks when the snow melts in spring, including Sacramento and Redding, and provides a lot of California with a consistent flow of water during the hot, dry summers.
These next pictures are of a true cubic yard of concrete and what goes into it. To give you an idea of how big a cubic yard of concrete is, Josh is 5'7" and the cube came up past his waist when he stood next to it.
What Time Is It?
This is the Sundial Bridge. It was designed by Santiago Calatrava and was completed in 2004 with the help of the local firm SDS, Engineering (Josh works for this company. The project was completed before he started there). The foot bridge is 700 feet in length and does not touch the Sacramento River it crosses. The floor is a semi-transparent glass that glows aqua at night. The mast reaches 217 feet into the air. This is the world’s largest sundial and is perfectly accurate only one day a year, June 21, the summer solstice.
You can see FG laying on one of the cables used to stabalize the mast of the Sundial Bridge.
The view of the Sacramento River from standing on the bridge.
This is one of the points the shadow of the Sundial Bridge crosses when it is accurate. There are 5 points total they could chart (something my husband's company did) and they are from 11-3.
Here's Josh showing off.
And, lastly, this is how it all came together in his passport:
We really enjoyed having FG with us and we are sorry we had to send him to the next person! |

Thanks, Jen! Nice pictures. It's okay that they are in two places, more people might see them that way! |
